Take a Sneak Peak
Excerpt from The SEO Manifesto,
Chapter 6: Networking
This chapter needs a conclusion! If you feel overwhelmed
after reading this chapter, don’t fret. Networking is currently
the most complex and dynamic component of SEO. A new player can
enter this space any minute and change the game completely. You
can spend all your effort in one area, only to find that you did
not have any impact. Performing the same activity on another networking
activity can yield great results.
As I mentioned at the beginning
of this chapter, align your product or services with your networking
strength and then focus. I recommend you begin by selecting one
networking site from each of the following categories based upon
your product or service and target audience:
- Facebook or LinkedIn or YouTube
- Blogging or Tweeting or Commenting
- Digg
or StumbleUpon or Reddit or Delicious
Start with this approach and
see how your traffic changes. If you do not get any additional traffic
after three months of an approach, move on to another approach.
If you are getting a good response, keep with it and, eventually,
you can add a similar site. The key to networking is finding an approach
that you enjoy and are comfortable with.
If you do not have an interest
in any of these activities in this chapter, you need to rethink
your business model. You may need to hire people to perform these
activities, or you may need to spend more time and money on traditional
marketing.
Remember, the value of all of these activities in this
chapter is that they lead to organic growth where the only cost
is your time, not; your checkbook. If you have more money than time,
you can adopt a different strategy. Bottom line, there are no shortcuts.
It is either going to cost you time or money.
